Aloe vera

While aloe vera is known for its medicinal properties, but that is limited only to humans. The plant can actually be very toxic to pets if ingested and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, and tremors.

Pothos

Pothos is a popular indoor plant that is famous for its air-purifying qualities. But, the problem with keeping them is that the leaves contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can irritate a pet's mouth and digestive tract.

Snake plant

Another great plant that helps purify the air around us and is very easy to grow is the Snake plant. But, be careful if you have a pet at home. Snake plants have saponins, which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea in pets.

ZZ plant

ZZ plants are very low-maintenance and can be grown by anyone. But, the sap of the ZZ plant has toxic substances and irritants in it, that if eaten by humans or animals, can cause burns and other problems.

Dumb cane plant

Dieffenbachia or the dumb cane as it is referred to, is a highly toxic plant especially to pets. Chewing or even tasting the leaves of dumb cane can cause irritation, vomiting, and difficulty in swallowing that can only be treated by vets.

Rubber plants are another set that are great to keep indoors, but unfortunately, not so if you have pets. The rubber plant has toxins known as ficin and rubber tree latex, which can be harmful to pets if they chew or swallow the leaves.

​Daffodils

When it comes to flowers, Daffodils have to be one that are especially dangerous to pets, be it cats, dogs or even the parrots.

Tulips

Tulips are extremely beautiful flowers but also contain allergenics in their bulbs and leaves, which can cause stomach upset, drooling, and in severe cases, organ damage in pets.
